SlumDog Created history own eight Oscars.
(CNN) -- Years from now it may be a trivia question on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."

Dev Patel and Freida Pinto star in "Slumdog Millionaire," which won eight Oscars, including best picture.
"What 2008 film based around a well-known game show," the question may read, ominous music humming in the background, "won the Oscar for best picture?"
The answer -- "Slumdog Millionaire" -- is history. It is East meeting West, Bollywood meeting Hollywood, a film that was going nowhere winning the biggest prize in the movie business.
At Sunday's 81st annual Academy Awards, "Slumdog" won eight Oscars, including best picture, director and adapted screenplay, completing a joyful ride that had carried it to wins at the Golden Globes, Writers Guild, Directors Guild and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards.

"Most of all we had passion and we had belief, and our film shows if you have those two things, you have everything," said producer Christian Colson, surrounded by members of the film's huge cast and crew. Gallery: See memorable moments from the ceremony
The film has been called "Dickensian" -- and freely borrows from Indian film traditions, right down to its closing dance number.
It is the story of an orphaned, poverty-raised teaboy who goes on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" to connect with his lost love.
Don't Miss
The film also overcame great challenges; it nearly went straight to DVD in America after its initial studio folded.
"Slumdog's" filmmakers were jubilant at the wins, which also included Oscars for best director (Danny Boyle), best adapted screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), score (A.R. Rahman), cinematography (Anthony Dod Mantle), song, sound mixing and film editing.

Boyle, better know for brash British films such as "Trainspotting," jumped up and down as he accepted his award, saying he'd told his children that if he ever won, he'd bounce like Tigger from "Winnie-the-Pooh." List of winners, nominees
Rahman was equally appreciative.
"All my life I've had a choice between hate and love, and I chose love, and now I'm here," he said.

"Slumdog's" main competition, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," won just three Oscars, all in minor categories. The film had led the pack with 13 nominations.
The rest of the Oscar broadcast alternated between host Hugh Jackman's smooth song-and-dance numbers, some comic moments from Steve Martin, Tina Fey and Ben Stiller, and politics, generally focused on gay rights and California's anti-gay marriage Proposition 8.

Sean Penn won best actor for playing Harvey Milk in "Milk," the story of the first openly gay man elected to major public office. Penn earned laughs and applause for his speech.
"You commie homo-loving sons of guns," the sometimes truculent actor began, to laughter. "I did not expect this, and I wanted to be very clear that I do know how hard I make it to appreciate me often. But I am touched by the appreciation."
Watch Sean Penn talk about his win »
After a series of thank-yous, he turned serious in talking about gay marriage. "For those who saw the signs of hatred as our cars drove in tonight, I think it's a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect on their great shame and their shame in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue that support," Penn said. "We've got to have equal rights for everyone."
Dustin Lance Black, who won original screenplay for "Milk," also gave an impassioned speech in favor of gay rights.

Law of life and its meaning according to Swami Vivekananda
15 Laws of Life- By Swami Vivekananda
Being an ardent of Devotee of Swami Vivekananda, here is few gems from his teachings..
2. It's Your Outlook That Matters: It is our own mental attitude, which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.
3. Life is Beautiful: First, believe in this world - that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!
4.It's The Way You Feel: Feel like Christ and you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.
5. Set Yourself Free: The moment I have realised God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free.
6. Don't Play The Blame Game: Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.
7. Help Others: If money helps a man to do good to others, it is of some value; but if not, it is simply a mass of evil, and the sooner it is got rid of, the better.
8. Uphold Your Ideals: Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.
9. Listen To Your Soul: You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
10. Be Yourself: The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves!
11. Nothing Is Impossible: Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin - to say that you are weak, or others are weak.
12. You Have The Power: All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.
13. Learn Everyday: The goal of mankind is knowledge... now this knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside: it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows', should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge.
14. Be Truthful: Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.
15. Think Different: All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.
Life is a Journey

Life is a Journey
Nancy Tabah Whynott © Lotusbud
Over the years, I have discovered life is a journey, a pilgrimage, a sacred adventure. Within everyone’s inner solitude, there is that bright and warm hearth where the spirit dwells waiting to be roused. There are many paths to enlightenment, their teachings rich and varied offering wisdom and “food for thought” and everything we need for our journey to awakening lies within us. In the beginning, spirituality appears like the bud on a bloom, opening gradually, tempting us with a glimpse of its splendor and unfathomable depths. It is here we create the blueprint of our collective existence.
Each of us from time to time experience crises from different life changing events and transitions, all unpredictable moments arriving and intruding into our “well groomed” lives. We didn’t ask for this interference and we wonder why it has arrived bringing with it havoc and confusion. BUT no matter what the source, each crisis has a common bond…a threshold. A holy summons inviting us to cross a threshold involving both a leaving behind and a stepping toward.
During these times of roadblocks, dead ends and detours, we often choose to ignore that inner calling. Transformation takes an enormous amount of trust in the voice that urges us to take note. We need to pay attention and ask ourselves what is it we are being summoned to learn? Has the time arrived to push past our comfort zone and begin the slow process of transformation? Are we ready to accept responsibility for our life choices and embark on this soulful journey? Many of us have learned to be afraid of the feelings inside of ourselves. We tend to bury or ignore them. Perhaps even run from them pretending they don’t exist. We cannot deceive ourselves! Until we claim and embrace these “unwanted” pieces of our shadow, they will continue to resurface, haunting us and making their presence known, one way or another.
The invitation to re-kindle our authentic self wears many disguises and often arrives in some of the most unexpected ways and always with a revelation. Life passages can mystify and overwhelm us, causing pain and grief. It is frightening to veer off the well-worn path, better known as our “comfort zone.” But if we are willing to take the time to acknowledge and reflect on each passage, they can bestow wisdom and knowledge expanding our vision of our authenticity.
Celebrating, mourning or wrestling with a life passage is an extraordinary act. Slow down and be in touch with your feelings. Be kind and loving to yourself. Act from your spirit and heart and don’t forget to breathe!

What greater thing is there for two human souls
than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen
each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all sorrow,
to share with each other in all gladness,
to be one with each other in the
silent unspoken memories?

The party is over so get back to work
Hi Everybody the most awaiting event of our family 25th Yr Wedding Anniversory Party of my parents is over. First of all my heartiest thanks to all my elders (relatives) and friends for joining us in the party and making the party succesful thus supporting my hard work. I would like to thank esp to my dear uncle Mr KK Majumdar(Togo Kaku) & aunty Mrs Anjana Majumdar(my kakima), for organising the event, and also the main inspiration for me, i would also like to thank my dear friend Gaurav Dugar for helping me to organise the party in a grand way the very way i wanted to be, Apart from this i like to thank Buro Kaku my Dads friend for catering and making such a quality and delicious dishes, and making all the spot arrangement as per our request and instructions and lastly i would like to thank my dear Parents for supporting me to celebrate their 25th Anniversory the way i wanted. Well the party was indeed a rocking one.My plan was to make something spl completly a new theme which nobody has seen before. Here i ve given a western touch to the party i have try to put forward there way and style of celebrating Wedding party. In both USA & UK Candle light party is very popular so i adapted the theme and it really worked brilliantly.Another reason for adapting this theme is that as per the english culture lighting candles are considered to be good sign so whenever there is some celebration they light candles whether its a newly married couple or Birthday Party or anything else lighting candles is a must. Its a sign of love & thats why when a newly married couple lights a candle and sit together it shows they are one with each other. Well lets talk about our party the first thing that we do is that prepare and decorate the pandle like a Hall room followed by lighting electric candle lamp fitted in the middle of the dining table and the celing fitted with sparking lights (Jhar Badi). The party started with the introduction welcome speech created by me and then followed by Background english music mainly the english romantic songs. WEll the party is over and now its time to get back to our regular life again. The days are gone but this memories will remains as the most golden moments of our life.
